Dubravka Sokač Štimac was born in 1943 in Zagreb; she did her high school studies in Pakrac, and then took a degree from the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb. From 1968 she worked in Požega Municiipal Museum as curator-archaeologist. She acquired the rank of museum adviser in 1987.
She is a consultant of the Institute for Archaeology in Zagreb, and for many years was secretary of the Slavonia and Baranja Museum Association. In 1991 she was appointed commissioner for conservation of monuments of culture for Požega municipality.
For one term of office she was director of Požega Municipal Museum (2002-2004). She ran many excavations at finding sites in the Požega area (Tekić, Rudina, Zarilac, Velika, Požega, Dolac).
During her long-term work in the museum profession, she published her papers in many specialised journals and publications of a regional or republican importance (Arheološki pregled, Vijesti muzealaca i konzervatora, Muzeologija, Glasnik slavonskih muzeja, Vjesnik Požeške kotline, Požega Monograph, Požega Lexicon, Požeški zbornik and others).
She has given lectures in archaeology at numerous conferences and symposia in Zagreb, Bled, Ohrid, Vukovar, Vinkovci and elsewhere. In 1997 she received the Požega City Prize for Lifetime Achievement, and in 1998, for the archaeological research in the Požega area, received the decoration the Order of the Croatian Daystar with Figure of Marko Marulić.
